Promoting Youth Digital Citizenship at UK Summit

My daughter Sophie and I will speak at the Digital Citizenship Summit UK on 23rd January at Bournemouth University. We will deliver a presentation on how we can empower young people to protect themselves online and share examples of our work to achieve this through Young Minds Online and other initiatives. Sophie and I have been working on course material for teens and tweens since 2013 and have presented to the Irish Government, international corporations, schools and parents. We are passionate about digital citizenship and are excited to be part of the #DigCitSummitUK community.
The event is being organised by an online community of educators, edtech innovators and industry experts and evangelists in social media, digital and tech.
In October 2015, co-founders, Marialice B.F.X. Curran and David R. Polgar organized the inaugural national Digital Citizenship Summit. The digcitsummit happened as a result of a tweet that brought Curran and Polgar together, Pleased to Tweet You, http://buff.ly/1Ix0hhR.
William Jenkins, an edtech innovator from Scotland says, “We have 57 people and organizations from 7 countries who are interested in speaking at the UK Digital Citizenship Summit in January: DigCitSummitUK Speaker Map. This is turning into a remarkable event with its own remarkable story.”
Co-founder of #digcitsummit and #digchat on Twitter, Marialice BFX Curran says, “The Digital Citizenship Summit UK (DigCitSummitUK) is about SAFE, SAVVY and ETHICAL social tech use. It is a unique hands-on conference that brings together all stakeholders involved with improving social media and tech use: students, educators, administrators, organisations, community leaders, and industry. DigCitSummitUK is focused on promoting positive and practical solutions, and allowing participants to be an active part of this important global conversation. DigCitSummit.com.”
