Can Digital Training Institute do three in a row at the Blog Awards Ireland?

I am thrilled that my Digital Training Institute Blog is a finalist in the Blog Awards Ireland 2018 – #Bloggies18 in two categories – Best Marketing & Comms Blog and Best B2B Blog.

The final round of blog judging focused on writing skills, the quality of content, interactions with the public and the overall feeling the judges got after reading the blogs. Were they enjoyable? Were they inspiring? Did they use their voice intelligently?

Winners will be announced at the Awards on Thursday 25th of October at TRAMLINE.

I got silver for Best Marketing and Communications Blog for 2016 and 2017. So it would be great to get gold this year! Can JSB take top spot? Let’s hope so!

These awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of the blogger community throughout the country over the past 12 months.

A decade blogging

I’ve been blogging for 10 years. In fact, this November I celebrate 10 years as an entrepreneur and self-employed mad woman! Often I think you need a level of craziness to step up to all the challenges being in business presents.

Blogging was a key marketing tactic for me as a new business owner with no marketing budget to my name. My first blog back then was called Running in Heels and it was a PR and marketing blog and followed my business trials and tribulations, in heels of course!

The posts were also published for a time on online news website Donegal Daily.

Benefits of blogging

One of the many benefits of being self-employed is that I can feed my writing addiction! I love writing, I’m happy as larry writing, and in fact, I’m writing this right blog right now on a train from Dublin to Galway.

I write 20,000 words per week and included in that word-count are two blog posts per week. The Wednesday blog post is a tactical ‘how-to’ helpful article about all areas of digital and social media marketing. The Friday blog post is the show notes from my weekly podcast JSB Talks Digital.

Blogging is a magnet for website traffic, it is a demonstration of your knowledge, credibility and personal/professional brand. To date on Digital Training Institute, I have published 383 blog posts!

It takes commitment and consistency to build up a blogging profile and returning traffic, but it will pay off and trust me – long form content is not dead!

Google also rewards me and my blog posts are re-purposed into great social media content.

Blog Awards Ireland 2018 #Bloggies18

The 2018 Blog Awards Ireland are now in their 7th year with over 2,000 nominations received for both personal and corporate bloggers. The Blog Awards Ireland has become one of the biggest events in the blogging calendar.

The final-list in both Business and Personal Blogs in each category was announced this week and these blogs, including the Digital Training Institute blog, will go through one more round of judging before the winners are announced!

The Blog Awards finale ceremony takes place on Thursday, October 25th in Tramline, Hawkins Street, Dublin 2 where the winners of each category will be announced. We hope to see you there!
